Early Access Release Information

Hell Maiden Steam Early Access July 16 2026: AstralShift launch content, Limbo and Lust Circles, demo differences, 8 languages, roadmap, and what to expect.

Hell Maiden is now available on Steam Early Access as of July 16, 2026, developed by AstralShift — the studio's horde survival deck-builder inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. Early Access includes two full Circles of Hell (Limbo and Lust), four Poets of Limbo, 40+ abilities, 21 charm types, and approximately one year of planned updates before the full 1.0 release covering all nine Circles toward Paradiso.

Launch Date and Platform

Steam Early Access went live July 16, 2026 on Steam for PC. The free Steam demo covering Limbo was delisted on July 13, 2026 — demo progress does not transfer to Early Access or full release purchases.

Opening theme "Not my Paradiso" by Japanese band Mili premiered on YouTube July 15, 2026. Watch the official cinematic opening, Mili theme guide, and Skyleo soundtrack guide.

Controller support is available in Early Access alongside keyboard and mouse — check in-game settings for binding options.

What's Included at Launch

Two Circles of Hell: Limbo (twelve-minute survival, Minos boss, fire traps at 5:35 and 10:05) and Lust (escalated spawns, Scarmiglione sub-boss, Libicocco finale with wind mechanics).

Four Poets: Dante (fire, run one), Virgil (stars, two Limbo runs), Horace (spears, third-run rescue quest), Homer and Ovid (Lust progression).

40+ abilities across Weapon and Mod Cards with Boost, Effect, Spread, Miracle, and Curse types. 21 charm types from Beatrice at odd levels L7+ in bronze, silver, and gold tiers.

Boss perks: Defeating each boss grants two new permanent abilities for all future runs — stack Minos, Scarmiglione, and Libicocco perks across Early Access progression.

Hell Maiden won Best Game from Portugal at DevGAMM Awards 2025. Voice acting features Diana Garnet as Dante and Minos, Phoebe Chan as Virgil and Beatrice. Early Access pricing is lower than the planned full 1.0 release per AstralShift. Character guides: Dante and Beatrice.

  • Limbo + Lust Circles
  • Minos, Scarmiglione, Libicocco bosses
  • 2 permanent abilities per boss defeated
  • Dante, Virgil, Horace, Homer, Ovid poets
  • 40+ Weapon and Mod Cards
  • 21 Beatrice charm types
  • 8 language localizations
  • Steam demo (Limbo only, no transfer)

Boss Perks — Permanent Run Bonuses

Steam's Early Access feature list confirms two new abilities per defeated boss. These perks persist permanently across all future runs — unlike cards and charms that reset each attempt.

Limbo's Minos is the first perk source. Lust adds Scarmiglione sub-boss and Libicocco finale perks. Plan boss attempts knowing each victory expands your long-term power ceiling.

Boss perks stack with poet unlocks and Forum narrative progression. Future Early Access Circles will add more bosses and corresponding perk abilities toward the nine-Circle 1.0 release.

Demo vs Early Access Differences

The Steam demo includes Limbo survival, Dante's core card pool, Minos boss, and limited narrative. Demo excludes Lust Circle, Horace rescue quest in full form, Virgil unlock progression as implemented in EA, Homer, Ovid, and expanded card counts.

Demo progress does not carry over — unlocks, run counts, and narrative flags reset on Early Access purchase. Expect to replay Limbo unlock path for Virgil (two runs) and Horace (third-run quest) even as demo veterans.

Demo serves as mechanical tutorial; Early Access is the full progression experience AstralShift targets for roughly one year of updates. Read the complete Early Access guide and Steam demo history for launch week checklist.

Launch Week Reception (July 22, 2026)

Six days after Steam Early Access launch, v0.2.32 Hot Fix Patch 2 (July 17) remains the latest official build. AstralShift shipped two hotfixes within 48 hours — v0.2.31 on launch day and v0.2.32 fixing achievements, localization fonts, cinematic skip, and input prompts. Community trackers report roughly 88% positive sentiment from 600+ Steam reviews, praising Mili's opening, anime presentation, voice acting, and deck-building depth at the $9.99 price point.

Common Early Access criticisms include occasional GPU crashes (addressed via DirectX 11 in v0.2.31), achievement unlock quirks (fixed in v0.2.32), and the two-Circle content ceiling until Gluttony arrives. Game8 and PixelNitro call the game "already worth the price of admission" despite expected rough edges.

Roadmap and Future Circles

AstralShift published an official Early Access roadmap on Steam news at launch. Approximately one year or more in Early Access is planned before 1.0 release with all nine Circles of Hell from Inferno through Paradiso.

Content Update 1 (2026): Gluttony — the third Inferno circle — adds a new story chapter and map. See the dedicated roadmap page for expansion timeline and Content Update 2 plans.

Follow AstralShift Steam news for patch notes — including Hot Fix Patch 2 (v0.2.32) with achievement and localization fixes, plus launch-day v0.2.31 with Libicocco fix, DirectX 11 option, and Virgil buff — and balance changes affecting the tier list.

Getting Started in Early Access

New players: start with controls, then how to play guide, then Limbo walkthrough. Visit The Forum between runs to select Circles and read poet dialogue. First goals — complete two Limbo runs for Virgil, third-run Horace rescue, first Minos kill with Dante fire build.

Demo veterans: jump to Lust walkthrough after re-earning poet unlocks. Study this page for content scope before assuming demo skills transfer unchanged to Lust wind mechanics.
