Steam Demo History

Hell Maiden Steam demo guide: October 2025 Steam Next Fest, Limbo content, 25+ abilities, delisting July 13 2026, and progress transfer rules before Early Access.

AstralShift released a free Hell Maiden demo on Steam October 13, 2025 during Steam Next Fest, following a playable preview at BCN Game Fest Barcelona (October 10–12). The demo covered Limbo survival, the Minos boss fight, and introductory narrative — serving as the mechanical tutorial before Steam Early Access on July 16, 2026. The demo was delisted July 13, 2026, two days before launch.

Demo Release Timeline

Hell Maiden was first teased January 10, 2025. Steam wishlisting opened May 23, 2025, reaching 10,000 wishlists by June 6. AstralShift announced the BCN Game Fest playable demo October 1, 2025, then confirmed public Steam Next Fest availability October 3 for October 13 launch.

The demo remained free on Steam from October 13, 2025 through delisting on July 13, 2026 — two days before Early Access. Players who missed the demo window must purchase Early Access for full Limbo and Lust content.

Hell Maiden won Best Game from Portugal at DevGAMM Awards 2025 on November 7, 2025, during the demo period.

What the Demo Included

The demo featured the complete first Circle — Limbo — with enemies, quests, the twelve-minute survival timer, and the Minos boss battle. Players could experiment with 25+ abilities across 6 Weapon Cards and 10 Mod Cards.

One Poet of Limbo rescue quest was available in demo form. Narrative dialogues unlocked across repeated runs, introducing Dante, Virgil, and Beatrice voice acting with Diana Garnet and Phoebe Chan.

Demo exclusions: Lust Circle, full Horace rescue implementation, Homer, Ovid, expanded 40+ ability pool, and offering door functionality. See Early Access info for the complete launch scope.

  • Full Limbo stage with Minos boss
  • 25+ abilities (6 Weapon + 10 Mod Cards)
  • 1 Poet rescue quest
  • Introductory narrative and voice acting
  • No save transfer to Early Access

Demo vs Early Access

Demo progress does not transfer to Early Access or the full release. Run counts, poet unlocks, and narrative flags reset on purchase — even veteran demo players re-earn Virgil (two Limbo runs) and Horace (third-run quest) in the paid client.

Early Access adds Lust, Scarmiglione sub-boss, Libicocco finale, four full Poets, 40+ abilities, Mili opening theme, and expanded Forum systems including the Lust archway.

Demo veterans retain mechanical knowledge — Limbo timer, fire traps at 5:35 and 10:05, and Minos patterns — but should not expect identical balance after AstralShift's year of Early Access tuning.

Playing After Demo Delisting

With the demo delisted, purchase Steam Early Access on Steam. Start with how to play guide and controls basics regardless of prior demo experience.

AstralShift continues development updates via Steam news, Discord support, and community channels. Hell Maiden Wiki tracks card balance and boss strategies through each content patch.
