Hell Maiden Tier List

Updated Hell Maiden tier list ranking the best Weapon Cards, Mod Cards, and charms for Limbo and Lust Early Access progression.

This tier list ranks Hell Maiden Spirit Cards and key charms based on Limbo and Lust performance during Early Access. Rankings reflect solo survival runs with standard level-up RNG — merged mods and charm quality shift individual cards up or down, but the tier boundaries hold for most players progressing through AstralShift's first two Circles of Hell.

How We Rank Cards

Cards are evaluated on wave clear speed, boss damage contribution, mod synergy depth, and consistency across RNG outcomes. S-tier cards perform strongly even at merge level 1 and scale exceptionally at level 3. A-tier cards need one or two supporting mods to reach their ceiling. B-tier and below remain viable in niche builds but underperform in general Limbo and Lust progression.

Stage context matters. A card dominant in Limbo may drop tiers in Lust where spawn rates and boss mechanics differ. We note stage-specific shifts where relevant. Charms are ranked separately because they appear from Beatrice at odd levels starting at level 7 and stack up to level 10 per type within a single run.

This list updates as Early Access balance patches ship. AstralShift plans roughly one year in Early Access — expect tier shifts when new Circles, poets, and cards arrive. Cross-reference individual build guides for mod layouts that push B-tier weapons into A-tier through synergy.

Weapon Card Tier List

S Tier: Dragon's Breath (Dante) — unmatched Limbo wave clear with burn stacking. Selenic Bloom (Virgil) — best AOE radius for dense waves and Lust content. Blade of Augustus (Horace) — top boss DPS when crit charms are invested.

A Tier: Erichtho's Rite — elite burst complement to Dragon's Breath. Cradle of Stars — defensive orbiting damage during quest and boss phases. Blistering Wake — strong kiting damage during trap events at 5:35 and 10:05.

B Tier: Secondary fire and star weapons that fill slots but don't anchor builds. Homer epic weapons — solid Lust crowd control but slower merge paths. Most Signature Card variants without mod investment.

C Tier: Situational weapons picked early and replaced mid-run. Unmerged weapons during boss phases when level 3 mods sit on discarded slots. See weapon cards guide for full ability breakdowns.

  • S: Dragon's Breath, Selenic Bloom, Blade of Augustus
  • A: Erichtho's Rite, Cradle of Stars, Blistering Wake
  • B: Secondary poet weapons, unoptimized Homer picks
  • C: Temporary early weapons replaced before boss

Mod Card Tier List

S Tier: Attack speed Boost mods on primary weapons. Fire and star Spread mods between compatible neighbors. Burn duration Effect mods on Dragon's Breath at merge level 3.

A Tier: Crit proc Effects on Horace weapons. Range Boost mods for Lust spacing. Knockback Effects against Scarmiglione and Libicocco wind mechanics.

B Tier: Miracle mods before level 3 merge — inconsistent proc rates. Single-target Effect mods during AOE-heavy waves. Non-adjacent Spread mods with wrong neighbor elements.

C Tier: Curse mods without charm mitigation. Spread mods on weapons planned for replacement. Duplicate mod types across four weapons preventing level 3 merges on any single mod.

Mod tier placement depends heavily on merge level. A B-tier Miracle at level 3 often outperforms an S-tier Boost stuck at level 1. Prioritize merge completion over tier chasing — details in our mod cards guide.

Charm Priority Tier List

Charms from Beatrice at odd levels (7, 9, 11...) stack up to level 10 per type per run. S Tier charms: Attack Speed, Elite Slayer, Growth. Attack Speed multiplies every weapon's DPS. Elite Slayer accelerates Limbo's scheduled elite spawns and Lust's heavier enemies. Growth increases experience gain for more level-ups before the timer expires.

A Tier: Critical Chance and Critical Damage for Horace builds. Max Health and Regeneration for survivability during Horace rescue and boss fights. Magnet range for pickup efficiency during dense waves.

B Tier: Movement speed — useful but less impactful than Attack Speed. Spell token cooldown reduction before spell upgrades are collected. Niche charms that help one boss pattern but not general waves.

Consult the charms guide and charm selection guide for reroll strategy when Beatrice offers two strong options at the same level-up.

Limbo vs Lust Tier Shifts

Limbo's twelve-minute timer favors sustained AOE — Dante and Virgil weapons hold top tiers. Trap events at 5:35 and 10:05 reward ground-effect and burn mods that damage clustered enemies. Minos boss phase favors weapons with consistent hit rates over burst crit that whiffs during movement.

Lust elevates Horace crit weapons and knockback Effects against faster enemies. Libicocco's wind mechanics punish stationary fire builds — Cradle of Stars and mobile star layouts rise tier ranks. Scarmiglione sub-boss rewards burst damage, pushing Erichtho's Rite and Miracle procs upward.

Build around your unlocked poets and current stage. First-time Lust attempts should reference the Lust walkthrough before committing to Limbo-tier loadouts that underperform in the second Circle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the single best card in Hell Maiden?

Dragon's Breath for Limbo general progression. Selenic Bloom rivals it in Lust and hybrid builds. No single card wins every scenario — mod merges and charms matter equally.

Does the tier list apply to demo players?

Partially. The demo includes only Dante's pool and Limbo. Virgil, Horace, and Lust-specific rankings apply to Early Access after July 16, 2026.

Should I always pick S-tier cards in level-ups?

Not if it prevents mod merges. Two copies of a B-tier mod merging to level 3 often beats adding a new S-tier weapon with level 1 mods. Merge priority overrides raw tier placement.

How often does this tier list update?

We update after major AstralShift patches during Early Access. Balance changes to burn scaling, crit values, or spawn rates can shift card tiers between updates.
