Taboo Arts are exclusive boss Spirit Cards that AstralShift hides behind repeat boss victories — separate from the two permanent boss perks you earn on every first kill. Minos, Libicocco, and Scarmiglione each contribute unique Taboo Arts cards to your draft pool after you defeat them three separate times across any number of runs. This guide explains unlock thresholds, how Taboo Arts differ from boss perks, and farming strategy for Early Access v0.2.32.
What Are Taboo Arts?
Taboo Arts are boss-themed Spirit Cards tied to Inferno judges and Malebranche demons. They appear in the level-up card selection menu only after you meet each boss's three-victory threshold — AstralShift never labels them "Taboo Arts" in the UI, but the official Early Access progression guide and community wikis use the term for these exclusive boss card pools.
Taboo Arts include both Weapon Cards and Mod Cards themed after the boss — Minos serpent motifs, Libicocco wind shadows, Scarmiglione salamander fire. They draft from the same poet roulette as standard cards once unlocked, competing for your four weapon slots and twelve mod slots during runs.
Do not confuse Taboo Arts with boss perks — the two permanent abilities granted on every boss defeat documented on the Early Access info page. Perks stack automatically; Taboo Arts require three separate wins and then appear as optional draft picks.
Minos Taboo Arts — Three Limbo Victories
Defeat Minos three separate times to unlock her Taboo Arts Spirit Cards. Each victory must be a completed boss kill — surviving the twelve-minute timer and winning the arena fight. Failed runs where you die to Minos do not count toward the three-victory total.
Minos Taboo Arts enter your card pool permanently after the third win. They can appear during any subsequent Limbo or Lust level-up alongside Dante, Virgil, Horace, and other poet cards. Priority varies by build — some Minos mods synergize with crit or AOE layouts on the tier list.
Farm Minos efficiently by mastering dodge patterns in the Minos boss guide. Even runs that end in Minos death teach patterns while your first and second perk abilities accumulate from earlier victories.
- Requirement: 3 separate Minos defeats
- Circle: Limbo finale (12-minute timer expiry)
- Reward: Minos Taboo Arts enter level-up draft pool
- Separate from: 2 boss perks per Minos kill (stack on every win)
Libicocco and Scarmiglione Taboo Arts
Scarmiglione and Libicocco each require three separate defeats to unlock their Taboo Arts. Scarmiglione is the mandatory Lust sub-boss mid-timer; Libicocco is the finale after Scarmiglione falls. Both thresholds track independently — you might unlock Scarmiglione Taboo Arts before Libicocco's if you stall on the finale.
Libicocco's clone attack softlock was fixed in v0.2.31 (July 16, 2026). Update Steam before farming the third Libicocco victory — see patch notes and the Libicocco guide.
Lust Taboo Arts often complement wind and burst builds tested in the Lust walkthrough. Scarmiglione cards favor stagger burst setups; Libicocco cards align with AOE and wind-calm window strategies.
- Scarmiglione: 3 separate sub-boss victories in Lust
- Libicocco: 3 separate finale victories in Lust
- Each boss unlocks its own Taboo Arts card subset
- Cards appear randomly in level-up drafts after unlock
Efficient Taboo Arts Farming
Taboo Arts unlocks persist permanently — like poet rescues and boss perks. Cards and charms still reset each run, but your three-victory counters never decrease. Track progress mentally: first Minos win unlocks Lust and two perks; wins two and three add more perks while advancing toward Taboo Arts.
Optimize farming runs for speed over perfection. Attack Speed charms, merged level 2 mods on two core weapons, and temple buffs from temple routes shorten Limbo timers. Skip optional side content on dedicated farm runs unless chasing poet unlocks simultaneously.
Use the Deck Builder to plan layouts before accepting Taboo Arts offers — boss cards compete with poet staples for limited slots. Cherry-pick one Taboo Arts weapon in slot 3 or 4 rather than rebuilding entire hands around boss themes unless the card ranks high on the tier list.
Future Taboo Arts in Gluttony
Early Access v0.2.32 includes Taboo Arts only for Minos, Scarmiglione, and Libicocco. Gluttony Content Update 1 — planned still for 2026 — will likely add a new boss with its own Taboo Arts pool following the same three-victory pattern established in Limbo and Lust.
Prepare for Gluttony by fully unlocking current Taboo Arts and stacking boss perks. See the Gluttony preview page and Early Access roadmap for expansion timeline and known details.
